Thomas George Bertlshofer, 59, of Burlington, died at 1:15 pm Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Rosebush Gardens Health Center.
Born Sept. 7, 1945, in Burlington, he was the son of George “Pete” and Margaret Lindgren Bertlshofer. On June 21, 1969, he married Linda Jane Anderson in Burlington. She died Dec. 27, 2000.
Mr. Bertlshofer worked as a draftsman for Coppes Murray and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
He was a 1964 graduate of Burlington High School and earned an associate’s degree in technical science at Southeastern Community College. He was of the Christian faith. He coached Little League and Pony League baseball and was a supporter of the swim team. He enjoyed SCC basketball, the Cubs, the Bears, and western movies.
Survivors include two sons, David Bertlshofer and Brian Bertlshofer, both of Burlington; three grandchildren; and one sister Kim Vickers of Elvaston, Ill.
Besides his wife, he was proceeded in death by his parents and one niece.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 8 pm Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm
The funeral for Mr. Bertlshofer will be at 11 am Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the SCC Blackhawk basketball program and the Burlington School District’s kindergarten milk program.
