George Bertlshofer
George "Pete" A. Bertlshofer, 74, or 1710 Jackson St. died at 11:52 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 1989, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.
Born July 18, 1915, in Burlington, he was the son of George Bertlshofer and Irma Scheiffer Bertlshofer. He married Margaret Lindgren Oct. 23, 1941 in Burlington.
A graduate of Burlington High School, he was employed by the Burlington Police Department for more than 29 years. He also worked at Hy-Vee Food Store before retiring in 1980. He was a member of Moose Lodge of Burlington, the Salvation Army Board, and had held several offices with the Burlington Police Blackhawk Local 3.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Thomas L. Bertlshofer of Burlington; one daughter, Mrs. Kimberly"Kaylen)Vickers of Wes Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Frances "Jack" Kemp of Burlington; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening following Moose rites at 7 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.
The service for Mr. Bertlshofer will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Chris Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Iowa State Policemen's Association, Burlington Police Blackhawk Local 3 death benefit fund.
