Margaret Helen Bertlshofer, 82, of Burlington, died at 4:15 pm Sunday, April 7, 2002, at her home.
Born January 7, 1920, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of Henry and Hilma Johnson Lindgren. She married George “Pete” Bertlshofer on Oct. 23, 1941, in Burlington. He died Dec. 30, 1989.
Mrs. Bertlshofer was a homemaker and a graduate of Burlington High School. In the early years of her marriage, she worked for Bock Flowers and IRC.
She was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Policemen’s auxiliaries. She enjoyed boating and jazz.
Survivors include one son, Tom Bertlshofer of Burlington; one daughter, Kim Vickers of Burlington; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Lofgren of East Peoria, Ill.; two brothers, Elmer Lindgren of Orlando, Fla., and Stanley Lindgren of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and one daughter-in-law.
Visitation will begin at noon today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm.
The funeral for Mrs. Bertlshofer will be at 1 pm Wednesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, with Pastor Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Iowa Department for the Blind.
