Merwyn Francis Smith ,92, (formerly of Burlington, IA), died at 4:53 AM, Monday, November 23, 2015 at River Hills Village, in Keokuk, IA.
Born May 27, 1923, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of William Benjamin and Christine Elizabeth Zerneke Smith.
He was a tool & dye maker in the Chicago area. Merwyn loved playing cards and enjoyed bowling and raising Borzoi (Russian Wolf Hound) dogs. He was a former member of the 1938 Buick Club and Mercedes Benz Club of America.
Survivors include son, Eric (Betty) Smith of River Forest , IL; daughter, Christine (John) Sergo of Oak Park, IL; daughter-in-law, Adeline Smith of Oakbrook Terrace, IL, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Josephine, brother Charles, and son David.
Visitation will be from noon until 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division, Burlington. The funeral service for Mr. Smith will follow immediately at 1:00 PM with Fr. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
