Mrs. Katharina Schmidt, 88, of West Burlington, died at 12:32 p.m. Sunday, April 20. 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 12, 1925, in Mekenyes, Hungary, seh was the daugher of Johannand Eleisabeh Krahling Boetz. On February 10, 1944, she married Konrad Schmidt Jr. in Mekenyes. She and her family came to America in 1952. Her husband preceeded her in death on June 3, 2003.
Mrs. Schmidt was a homemaker and also worked at Ross Manfufacturing, IAAP, and Winegard, and was a nurse's aide at Burlington Hospital.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and loved tending to her flowers and garden and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy (Dennis) Johnson of West Burlington, two sons, Konrad (Linda) Schmidt III of Woodland Park, Colorado and Herb (Kathy) Schmidt of West Burlington; four grandchildren, Jilie (Bryan) Perkins, Corey Johnson, Katie Schmidt, and Annie Schmidt, all of West Burlington; two great-grandsons, Braydon Perkins and Jared Perkins, both of West Burlington; four nieces; two nephes; and one cousin Susanne Adam of West Burlington.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, brother, John Boets, sister, Elisabeth and grandson Nicholas Schmidt.
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Schmidt will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 25th, at Lunning Chapel, with Pastor Rick Biedermann officiating. Inturnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church and Great River Hospice House.
