Obituary

Robert W. Berry, 75, of Burlington, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Born June 13, 1942, in Burlington, he was the son of Ardy and Margaret Lucille Shortridge. On May 4, 1970, he married Sharon Kay Augustine in Denver, CO. She died January 31, 2011.

He attended Bradley University on a football scholarship, and received his Associates Degree.

After retiring from his job as a commercial banker, he owned a KOA Camp Ground, with his wife, in North Dakota. They moved back to Burlington and worked for the City in the Parks Department.

He enjoyed sports and held the shot put record for 17 years in the Drake Relays. He loved the out doors, and once a year, would go elk hunting with his friends. Mostly, he enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home and meeting new people.

Survivors include two sons, Brian A. (Beth) Berry of West Hartford, CT, and Tracy L. (Diane) Berry of San Tan Valley, AZ; and one grandson, William R. Berry of West Hartford, CT.

Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Darla Michelle Berry and his parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
