Mrs. Vera Katherine Berry, 86, of Danville, died at 10:11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Henry County Health Center - Emergency Room.
Born July 21, 1927 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond Roscoe and Olga Anna Hoelzen Rust. On March 22, 1953 she married Marvin Lee Berry in Burlington. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1995.
Mrs. Berry worked at the Glove Factory in New London, Sterzing's in Burlington, Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison and retired from Motorola in Mount Pleasant in 1992. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Embassy Club at Danville Bank and a monthly luncheon group. She enjoyed camping, NASCAR races, photography, cross stitch, watching birds and her pets. She loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon L. (Danny) Anderson of Danville and Susan K. (the late Jay) Nielsen of New London; four grandchildren, Greg and Michelle Anderson and their children, Brennan, Emma, and Camden, Jeff and Sara Anderson and their children, Sadie and Taylor, Chris and Vanessa Beaty and their children, Dylan and Allison and Cheri and Peter Crouch and their children, Jacqueline and Jonathan; one sister, Edna M. Gerdner of Burlington; brother, Rudolph R. Rust of Burlington; twin brother, Virgil K. Rust of West Burlington and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Sheila Baumert.
A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Humane Society.
