Obituary

John William Zurmuehlen, life resident of this community, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday at his home, 2407 S. Main street, following a 2 year and 3 month illness brought on by a paralytic stroke. Born in Flint River township on Aug. 6, 1872, he was married to Julia Nantz on Feb. 23, 1898, who survives. Zurmuehlen was an employee of the Iowa Soap company for many years, and prior to being stricken was employed at the Northwestern Cabinet company. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran church and the Loyal Order of Moose. In addition to his widow, he is survive by one son, Robert Henry Zurmuehlen, of Burlington; 5 sisters, Mrs. John Stigge and Mrs. William Dunn, New London; Mrs. Herman Gramenz, Highland, Cal.; Mrs. William Gill, Peoria, Il., and Mrs. Irven Thomas, Burlington, and 2 brothers, Ed and William Zurmuehlen, both of Burlington.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Burnett-Wallen funeral home. Rev. W. W. Steinmetz will officiate, with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery.
