Cyndie Lee Thomas Smith. 53, of Burlington died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at her home. Born Sept. 24, 1952, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lewis R. and Margaret Schmidt Thomas. Mrs. Smith was a waitress and caregiver. She was of the Christian faith. She collected angels and enjoyed fishing, Christian music, dancing and her dog. Survivors include two daughters, Tabitha Orth of Burlington and Nicole Tolly of Des Moines; one son, Darrick Smith of Burlington; seven grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Collins of Burlington; two brothers, Raleigh Helmick of Burlington and Timothy Helmick of Washington; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, One sister and one brother. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with family meeting friends during that time. The funeral for Mrs. Smith will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Bettyanna Bremer officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Median Center's Hospice Care.
