Katheryn "Katie" Louise Sliger, 89, of New Eagle, Pennsylvania, formerly of Burlington and West Burlington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2008, in New Eagle. Born February 15, 1919, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Walter and Julia Koenig Goetz. On August 20, 1936, she married Lee I. Sliger in Burlington. They were married almost 63 years before he passed away August 14, 1999. Mrs. Sliger worked at the Burlington Biscuit Company, Burlington Instrument Company, Iowa Ordinance Plant and Sweet Heart Surplus Baker. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington. She and her husband taught Sunday School several years. After moving to New Eagle to live with her daughter, she attended Riverview Baptist Church. Survivors are one daughter, Judith Seraly of New Eagle whom she made her home with since May 30, 2000; one brother, Donald Goetz and wife Jean of Tipton; one special daughter-in-law, Jackie Sliger of Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren, Anthony "Tony" Seraly of Monongahela, Pennsyulvania, David Seraly of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania, Julie Nicholas of New Eagle, Pennsylvania, and Byron and Darrin Sliger both of Boise, Idaho; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a son, Larry Sliger, two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Goetz and one sister, Dorothy Doemland. Friends may call from noon until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4th, in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Sliger will be Monday, May 5th, at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church. Pastor Carl Engstrom will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington and Riverview Baptist Church, 405 Main St., New Eagle, PA 15067.
