Lee I. Sliger, 95, of West Burlington, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Feb. 2, 1904, in McDonough County, Ill., he was the son of Charles E. and Loda May Rigby Sliger. On Aug. 20, 1936, he married Katheryn L. Goetz in Burlington. Mr. Sliger was a city bus driver for Burlington for nine years, and was a production worker at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 10 years. He retired in 1969. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Burlington, where he taught Sunday School for many years. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Judy Seraly of New Eagle, Pa.; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Sliger of Burlington; five grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Irene Powell of Missouri and Lela Miller of Burlington; and two brothers, Roma Sliger of rural New London and Lynn C. Sliger of Oklahoma City, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, three brothers and one sister. Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Sliger will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bethany Lutheran Church of Burlington, with the Revs. Carl Engstrom and Richard Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Bethany Lutheran Church.
