Paul Leroy Jones, 79, of Burlington, died at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Burlington Care Center in Burlington. Born October 5, 1930, in Burlington, he was the son of Daniel E. and Minnie E. Luth Jones. On July 20, 1957, he married Margaret M. Jones in Burlington. They divorced. Mr. Jones worked as a carpenter for Johnson Construction Co., and as a union carpenter in Wichita, Kan., building churches and schools. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and playing cards. Survivors include two sons, John Jones of San Diego, and James Jones of Davenport; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his former wife, Margaret Applegarth of Burlington; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister. No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated. The graveside memorial services for Mr. Jones will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House in Burlington.
