Richard Arthur Berquist, 72, of Western Pines, lot 85, West Burlington, died at 6 am Saturday, March 10, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Born Aug. 22, 1917, in Burlington, he was the son of Elvin and Louise Schnicker Berquist. He married Lida Elizabeth Blaisdell on Feb. 26, 1942.
He had been a plumber for 35 years before he retired. He was a member of St. Lukes United Church of Christ, Loyal Order of the Moose No. 579, Legion of the Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, AARP, Burlington Gym, a 45-year member of the Plumbers Local No. 212, and a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 10102. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the destroyer, USS Brooks DD-232.
Surviving is his wife; one sister, Donna Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one aunt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Moose rites will be conducted at 7 pm Tuesday followed by family visitation. The service for Mr. Berquist will be at 1:30 Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Darryl Bockting officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post No. 10102.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Burlington Ambulance Service.
