Joseph Charles Shoemaker, 95, of Burlington, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.
Born July 18, 1920, in Burlington, he was the son of Charles A. and Ada J. Cisna Shoemaker. On November 22, 1941, he married Dolores Yaley in Kahoka, MO.
Joseph worked for J.I. Case for 39 years, starting as a machinist and retiring as a General Foreman.
He was a member First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He enjoyed camping, metal working, and most of all he cherished spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Burlington; one son, Joseph "Jody" (Susan) Shoemaker of West Burlington; two grandsons, Matthew and David Shoemaker; one sister, Mary Mattson of Fort Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mr. Shoemaker will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Reverend David Yonker officiating.
