Ms. Elizabeth Marie (Peterson) Bersch, 85, of Burlington died at 6:05 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born January 5, 1931 in Danville, she was the daughter of Dr. Evan A. and Alice Elizabeth (Walstrom) Peterson.
Ms. Bersch was a 1949 graduate of Burlington High School and attended two years at the University of Missouri. She was an office assistant for 20 years for the City of Burlington and enjoyed her time spent with her co-workers. She retired in 2011at the age of 79. She previously worked as a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray Studios, and opened two studios for them in Wisconsin. She was a competitive ballroom dancer. She worked at Sylvania and in test fire on Line 1 at I.A.A.P., for several years. She was a COLD WAR PATRIOT AND LOVED OUR GREAT NATION.
She was raised in a Christian home and loved the Lord to the very end.
Ms. Bersch loved all animals and raised boxer dogs. She enjoyed horticulture and loved her family and enjoyed every minute with them.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela I. (Bersch) Stevenson of Burlington; five grandchildren, Tobias Stevenson, Samuel Stevenson, Micah (Amanda) Stevenson, Timothy (Ty) Stevenson and Abigail Stevenson; six great grandchildren, Preston, Neil, Margot, Cylus and identical twins Crosby and Charles; one brother, Dr. Evan (Lois) Peterson Jr. of Wathena, Kansas; one sister, Julia Burham of Rochester, New York and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her identical twin sister at birth, her parents Dr. Evan A. and Alice Peterson; son, Carl Arthur Bersch; brother, Robert W. Peterson; and great granddaughter, Miracle Renee Stevenson-Cooper.
The graveside funeral service and interment for Ms. Bersch will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 18th at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Breast Cancer Research.
