Mary M. Ferrel, 78, of Burlington, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2010, at Lexington Square in Keokuk. Born February 15, 1932, in Keokuk, IA, she was the daughter of Claude and Gladys Wagner Squires. On October 19, 1952, she married William Shaw in Burlington. She later married Raymond Ferrel in Burlington. He later died. Mary worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and later at Motorola in Quincy. She was a member of Jesus Christ Apostolic Temple. She enjoyed reading the Bible, watching wrestling, the river, yard sales, collectibles, and antiques. Survivors include three daughters, Anna (Mike) Pattern of Mediapolis, IA, Diane Rice of Hamilton, IL, and Jackie (Rick) Eberhardt of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, one daughter, Suzanne Bailey, and two sons, Ralph Smith, and Dennis Smith. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Ferrel will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with Reverend O. C. Wimley officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen Community Room following the service. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
