Reiko "Rae" Maeda Shaw, 78, of Burlington died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at her home. Born Nov. 12, 1929, in Kago-shima-Ken, Japan, she was the daughter of Yoichiro and Tsuko Ki Maeda. On Dec. 1, 1969, she married William Shaw in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. Mrs. Shaw owned a business raising vegetables and selling night crawlers. She was a high school graduate in Nasa, Japan. She became a U.S. citizen. She attended Heritage Baptist Church. She enjoyed bingo and knitting. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Anna Patten of Gulfport, Ill., Suzanne Bailey of Davenport and Diana Stoneking of Hamilton, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one brother and two sisters who live in Japan. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Shaw will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Brad Cranston officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established.
