Carol Marie Shaw, 69, of Burlington, died at her home Thursday, August 2, 2012. She was born on September 6, 1942 in Ft. Madison, Iowa, she was the daughter of Weston Lynn and Agnes Marie Ort Conlee. She married John Carl Shaw March 22, 1966 in Monmouth, Illinois. He died November 11, 2008. Carol was a nurse at Burlington Hospital and then later a nursing instructor at Southeastern Community College for 35 years. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing with grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking, going to garage sales and auctions. Enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards with her family and friends and going to the casino with cousins. Carol was a friend and servent to many. She enjoyed teaching nursing to her students and when she saw them out of class they would thank her for her kindness. She played softball in high school. She liked to make lists and follow them. She was of the Protestant Faith. She is survived by, two sons, Mark Edward Shaw of Salta, Argentina and Colin Shaw of Ft. Madison, Iowa, three daughters, Mona Shaw of Burlington, Iowa, April Schulthies of West Burlington, Iowa and Jacklyn Smith of Ridgeville,California. 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.One brother, Marvin Conlee of Argyle, Iowa, two sisters, Marilyn Fincher of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Ruth Ann Griffiths of Nauvoo, Illinois. Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services for Carol Marie Shaw will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Prugh's Chapel. Pastor Tom Petersen and Nelva Petersen will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Prugh's Chapel Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial has been established for Nursing Education.
