Roy Carl Bernhart, 76, 2522 Gear St., Burlington, died at 1:30 am Saturday, Aug. 9, 1997, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born Aug. 8, 1921, in Kingston, he was the son of Carl Herbert and Iva Minerva Nisley Bernhart. On Aug. 2, 1948, he married Margery Butts at Avon, Ill. They later divorced.
Mr. Bernhart was a laborer and cement finisher for Carl A. Nelson Company for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Eagles, Moose Lodge, and Local 525 Labor Union. He was a WWII SeaBees Veteran and Korean War Veteran. He was a long-time resident of West Burlington.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Bernhart of Burlington; two sons, Tim of Burlington and Jeff of West Burlington; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marguerite Siefken, of Burlington and Doris Mason and June Bernhart, both of Tulsa, Okl.; one brother, Paul Bernhart of Avon, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one infant sister.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 pm Monday in Prugh’s Chapel. The body will be cremated.
A graveside committal service for Mr. Bernhart will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating.
A memorial has been established.
