Karen Sue Neff, 61, of Burlington, died at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at her home. Born October 15, 1948, in Rock Island, Illinois, she was the daughter of D. Eugene and Shirley C. Becht Shaw. Ms. Neff was a Burlington High School graduate. She was a housekeeping supervisor at Great River Medical Center for 25 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed genealogy, crafting, painting, working in her garden, watching NASCAR, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her mother, Shirley Shaw of Burlington; sister, Beverly (Mike) Strickland of Burlington; one nephew, Chris Ringold of Burlington; one niece, Melissa Chapman of Burlington; ten great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles, Charles and Lucille Becht of Osco, Illinois, and Dick and Dorothy Becht of Chillicothe, Missouri; and cousins, Mark Becht of Osco, and Renee Cooper of Urbana, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her father, D. Eugene Shaw, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Friends may call from noon until 7:00 p.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service for Ms. Neff will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 26th, in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Orthel officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
