Mrs. Therese Sharp, 89, of Burlington, died at 1:15 am Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the Great River Medical Center - Klein Center in Burlington. Born December 21, 1921, in Monmouth, IL, she was the daughter of David Paul and Elizabeth Katherine Monckton Barry. On August 3, 1946, she married Wayne Edwin Sharp in Monmouth. He died September 24, 1993. Therese was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Monmouth High School and attended Monmouth College. She was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington, St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, Antique Mermaids, and the Eagle's Auxiliary. She enjoyed swimming, genealogy, volunteering at the Great River Medical Center, crosswords, reading and being a grandma and great-grandma. Survivors include two sons, Stephen (Sarah) Sharp of Oxnard, CA, and Michael (Molly) Sharp of Davenport; one daughter, Barbara (Jeff) Zotz of Burlington; six grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Zotz, Nathan Sharp, Meaghan Sharp, Amy Zotz, Sarah Sharp, and Stephenie Sharp; six great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Jonathan, Ethan, Stephen, Alexis, and Mary Haven; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Jack, Bill and Wilbur, one sister, Mary, one son, David, three infant grandsons, Lee, Matt, and Nick; one grandson, Chris, and one daughter-in-law, Pat. Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 3:00 PM Rosary Service until 5:00 PM Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Sharp will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 12, 2011, at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Rev. Father David G. Steinle as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center following the interment.
