William "Bill" H. Seiberling, 86, of Burlington, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center in Burlington. Born June 11, 1922, in Burlington, he was the son of William L. and Elizabeth Blum Seiberling. On March 14, 1946, he married Harriet E. Adolph in Burlington. Mr. Seiberling worked as a material handler at Campbell Chain and Exide. He attended St. John's Catholic School, and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Club Aerie 150. He enjoyed woodworking in earlier years, roller skating, fishing and bowling. He was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include his wife; one son, William T. Seiberling of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; one daughter, Linda Barton of Davenport; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Seiberling of Burlington; two sisters, Betty Murry and Eileen DeHague, both of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce DeRammelaere officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for SS. John and Paul Catholic Church.
