Tamara Lynn Secrest, 45, of Burlington, died at 4:31 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at her residence. Born Aug. 27, 1954, in Ottumwa, she was the daughter of James and Arliss Martin Secrest. Ms. Secrest was a machine operator at Metro Mail of Mount Pleasant. She previously worked as a deli clerk for Naifeh's. She was a 1972 graduate of Burlington High School. She also graduated from Tampa, Fla., as a medical assistant. Survivors include one son, Troy Shofe of Des Moines; one daughter, Jeri Howie of Burlington; three grandchilden; her mother of Burlington; and three sisters, Chris Secrest and Robin Deen, both of Burlington, and Tracy Gonzalez of Wyandotte, Okla. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents. Visitatin will be from noon to 8 p.m. today in Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation. The funeral for Ms. Secrest will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Rogula officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial for the American Cancer Society has been established.
