Charlotte Jacqueline (Cline) Schwenker, RN, WCC, 77, Hayward WI, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital after a 5 yr battle with breast & bone cancer. She was born on October 12, 1935 in Burlington, IA, daughter of the late Carl and Emma (Eschman) Cline. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1953. On April 19, 1958 Charlotte was united in marriage to her junior high and high school friend, Theodore (Ted) W. Schwenker.
In 1956 Charlotte earned her RN degree from Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA and later became Wound Care Certified [WCC]. She was a dedicated nurse for 57 years, retiring in June 2013. Charlotte was very committed to her distinguished career and worked in various staff and management positions at hospitals and long term care facilities in Cedar Rapids, IA, Mobile, AL, St. Paul & Roseville, MN and Hayward, WI.
She enjoyed her time gardening, sewing, cooking and especially baking. Each meal Charlotte served always included one of her homemade desserts.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years Theodore; her four children Timothy (Emily) Schwenker, W. Lakeland, MN; Sally Schwenker, Gila Bend, AZ; Jane (Timothy) Eilts, Cottage Grove, MN; Molly (Matthew) Krueger, Green Bay, WI; her four grandchildren Brittany, Danielle, Caleb and Brandon.
A memorial service to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held at Hayward United Methodist Church in Hayward WI at 11:00am on Wednesday August 7th, 2013 with visitation one hour before the service and will be followed by a time of fellowship at the church. Private Burial will be later in Burlington, Iowa.
Charlotte has requested memorials may be directed to Waters Edge Care Center & Hayward United Methodist Church, for their garden upkeeps and to Hope Lodge, Rochester, MN.
