Dolores V. Schoene, 98, of Burlington, died 6:35 a.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Danville Care Center.
Born March 20, 1919 in Adams County, IL, she was the daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Vonholt) Dunbar. She married Lavern H. Schoene on February 23, 1939 in Clayton, IL. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1992.
Dolores was a homemaker, worked part time at Cook's Discount Center and taught ceramic classes in her home. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and was involved in Women's Fellowship Group. She enjoyed spending time at their cabins on the river. She loved camping, wintering in Texas, travelling the western states, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie (William) Krieger and Darlene (Albert) Hank both of Burlington; eight grandchildren; Rebecca Wheeler of West Burlington, Ginger Roth of Ft. Madison, Jack "Jay" Wheeler Jr. of Utica, IL, Julie (Peter) Eperjesi of LaVern, TN, Melanie (Jason) Covington of Boca Raton, FL, Steven (Denise) Hank of Washington, IL, Kyle (Barbara) Krieger of Burlington and Garret (Mallory) Krieger of North Liberty, IA; twelve great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son; daughter and son in law; Alberta and Jack Wheeler, and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
