Mrs. Bonnie Louise Schnedler, 79, of Burlington died at 7:16 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born in Des Moines County on November 7, 1934 she was the daughter of Elmer H. and Clara Belle (Krumland) Schwartz
She married William Staats in 1954 and they later divorced. On November 11, 1999 she married Henry Schnedler in Branson, Missouri.
Mrs. Schnedler was a 1952 graduate of Huron Consolidated School. She worked for Northwestern Bell, IRC and Southeast Iowa Community Action. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Harmony Bible Church. She was a 4-H leader for Huron Peppy Pals for 13 years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, sewing and quilting. She crocheted many blankets.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Schnedler of Burlington; three sons, William Staats Jr. of Oakville, Lonnie Staats of Mt. Pleasant and Barry Staats of Sperry; three daughters, Pamela Jones of Wadley, Alabama, Deborah Scheitlin of Burlington and Brenda Staats of Salem; three step daughters, Barbara (Joe) Parish of Ankeny, Susan (Doug) Downer of Blue Grass, and Ruth (William) Warden of Owensville, Missouri; 23 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one brother, Alfred "Al" Schwartz of Wapello; one half sister, Shirley Russell of Beaumont, California; and three step sisters, Odell Spragg of Davenport, Edith Burton of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Lucille Lindsey of Marrero, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Terry Staats; one brother, Ralph Schwartz; one sister, Helen Lesnet; one nephew, Jeff Soper; and one step sister, Marjorie Felts.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 5th, at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mrs. Schnedler will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 6th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Dan Baker officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
