Connie Schnedler, 70, of Burlington, died at 4:20 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born April 27, 1943, in Baraboo, WI, she was the daughter of Louis A. and Florence Irene Hill Leger. On June 10, 1961, she married Dennis Ray Schnedler in Burlington. Connie was Substance Abuse Counselor in Cedar Rapids at Mercy Hospital. Then she worked for Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services of Southeast Iowa in Burlington. In 1984, together with her husband, she founded Preferred Security Service in Burlington. She was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School. She attended Southeastern Iowa Community College and was a licensed teacher for Unity School of Christianity in Kansas City. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, cooking, and gardening. She also enjoyed playing video games with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Dennis; four sons, Scott (Joy) Schnedler, Kyle (Christine) Schnedler, and Dennis E. (Brenda) Schnedler, all of Burlington, IA, and Lance (Nancy) Schnedler of West Burlington; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jay Leger of Burlington, and Jim (Marilyn) Leger of Mackinaw, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Cremation has been entrusted to Thielen Crematory. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home. The memorial service for Mrs. Schnedler will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Mary Shultz officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the burial. A memorial has been established for the Battered Women's Shelter.
