Obituary
Miss Vicki Annette Shepherd, 58, died at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born August 12, 1957 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Frances M. (Bowman) Shepherd.
Vicki attended Hope Haven where she worked and took classes. While at Hope Haven she participated in Special Olympics.
Vicki enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling the country with her parents. She played the harmonica in her youth and loved listening to music. She enjoyed watching car racing with her dad. Vicki loved the family pets, especially her dog Pepper. She was known as a bit of a prankster, so you had to watch your back?.
Vicki loved and was loved deeply by her family and friends. She will be terribly missed. Since the passing of her parents, she has lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry Fenton Sr. in Burlington.
Survivors include her sister, Linda (Jerry) Fenton of Burlington; brother, Tim Shepherd of Keithsburg, IL; her aunts, Virginia McGinity of Burlington and Nita Bowman of Mount Pleasant; sisters-in-law, Dana Shepherd of Waukee and Margie Reed of Parkersburg, WV; nieces and nephews, Jerry Fenton Jr., Beth (Chris) Betz, Jennifer (Joe) Schuster, Jolie Shepherd, Birdy (Becky) Fenton, Jason (Julia) Shepherd, Crystal (Brandon) Ballard, and many cousins.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert Shepherd and Dr. Donald Shepherd.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
The funeral service for Miss Vicki Shepherd will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 2nd, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 625 N. Sixth St, where Rick Johnson will officiate. Interment will be immediately following the in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
Memorials have been established for Hope Haven and the Des Moines County Humane Society.
