Obituary
Theola I. Savage 78, of Burlington passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorial may be directed to Great River Hospice or to Cottonwood Care Facility in her memory.
Theola was born on April 24, 1939, in Iowa City the daughter of Joseph H. and Violet E. Harter Blakeley. She graduated from Salem High School in the class of 1957. On September 24, 1961, she was united in marriage to Ronald D. “Ronnie” Savage, he preceded her in death on October 3, 2009. She worked at various places including Schaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison, Lincolnville Café, Champion Clothing Outlet of Burlington and the Des. Moines County Home. She volunteered at Cottonwood Care Facility. Theola was a member of the West Burlington Christian Church, V, F.W. and was a former member of the Ft. Madison Eastern Star. She enjoyed collecting angels, jewelry, camping at Oakland Mills, crocheting and listening to country music.
She is survived by her sister; Kathy Waterman of West Burlington, her brother Wayne (Kay) Blakeley of Arizona, along with nieces and nephews.
Theola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother; Gene Blakeley, three sisters; Meda Bailey, Lorraine Jannings and Alberta Schrephfer.
