Donald Gene Savage, 64, of Danville, died at 3:41 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Born Feb. 8, 1936, in Burlington, he was the son of Raymond O. and Dorothy J. Engle Savage. On March 2, 1964, he married Wilma E. Giberson in Oquawka, Ill. Mr. Savage was a boilermaker and welder for 32 years, working at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, county home, J.I. Case, Caterpillar, and Trane Co. He was a 1955 graduate of Lockridge High School in Lockridge. He was a member of West Burlington Christian Church, Workman Masonic Lodge 634 A.F. & A.M. of Stockport, Ordr of Eastern Star 514 of Danville, past member of Shriners, and 32nd Degree Consistory. He enjoyed camping. Survivors include his wife; one son, Ray Savage of Danville; one daughter, Pamela Savage of Lockridge; three stepdaughters, Debra Nelson of Birmingham, Dedra Swedenburg of Middletown, and Teena Rheinschmidt of Marietta, Ga.; three grandsons; 10 stepgrand- children; four stepgreat-granddaughters; his mother of Burlington; two brothers, his twin, Ron D. Savage of Burlington, and Bob Savage of West Point; and one sister, Beverly Carver of Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic rites will be conducted by Danville Masonic Lodge 48 A.F. & A.M. at 6:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Savage will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Howard officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Oakland Mills Camping Grounds.
