Violet "Butch" Louemma Sattler, 83, of Burlington, died 2:57 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born October 15, 1932 in Rolla, Missouri, she was the daughter of William Perry and Velvie (Lowing) Ghrist. She married Arthur Sattler Sr. He preceded her in death September 21, 1990.
Violet was a homemaker. She was also a crossing guard and worked at Sylvania.
She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, gardening and "being a mom". She was known to have the most beautiful roses growing in her yard. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Michael) Kemp of Galesburg, IL; three sons, Arthur "Art" Sattler Jr. and Gregory (Sarah Polson) Sattler of Burlington and Randall "Randy" (Christie) Sattler of Gladstone, IL; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Ghrist of Davenport, Bob (Robin) Ghrist of Burlington and Don (Suneva) Ghrist of Buffalo, IA; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, Pamela Olson and Penny Ward, two grandsons Matthew John Brockett and Arthur Sattler III, two brothers, Robert Winkler and Charlie Ghrist, and her longtime companion Glenn Sly.
The funeral service for Mrs. Sattler will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Dean Graber will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24th in Lunning Chapel with the family to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
