Obituary
Steven James Ashby, 55, of Fort Madison died at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born February 25, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert K. and Norma Gipson Ashby. Mr.Ashby was a warehouse manager for Southwest Landmark in Lebanon, Ohio. When he was discharged from the Army he enrolled in driving school for big rigs in Lamoni and obtained a CDL Class A license. He drove a 18-wheeler until an eye condition prevented him from driving. He served with the Army from 1973 to 1979. He always had a passion for cars and loved to drive. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Ashby of Fort Madison and Tara Lifford of Los Angeles; two granddaughters; two sisters, Bobette Arnett of Chicago and Toni Bailey of Hayward, California; one brother, George Ashby of Durham, N. C.; two nieces; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Rev. Harold Davis will officiate, with inurnment in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
