Annie Mae Pickens, 80, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., formerly of Burlington, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at her home. Born January 9, 1931, in Poplar Bluff, MO, she was the daughter of Johnnie and Deretha Rankin Jeffers. On March 15, 1951, she married Jack Pickens, Jr. in St. Louis. Mrs. Pickens worked 15 years for General Electric prior to retirement. She was a member of Union Baptist Church Full Gospel for more than 50 years. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Marquita Taylor of Rancho Cucamonga, and Stacy Pickens of Burlington; three sons, Craig Pickens of Burlington, Darryl Pickens of Portland, Ore., and Perry Pickens of New Alexandria, PA; three stepdaughters, Jacqueline Boyd of Rancho Cucamonga, Yvonne Stewart of St. Louis, and Joyce Wallace of Mississippi; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine Gipson of Burlington, and Neregin Cummings of Fairfield, Calif.; two brothers, Myles Carter and Bernard Carter, both of Burlington; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington. The funeral for Mrs. Pickens will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship in Burlington, with the Rev. Lawrence Manson officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship.
