Glenn Bennett, 85, of 2615 Newbury Circle, Apt. F died at 10:45 pm Wednesday, April 7, 1993, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born June 17, 1907, in Ceresco, Neb., he was the son of Olivier Lovell and LuLu Kennedy Bennett. He married Pauline E. Bennett on Jan. 4, 1930, in Atlanta, Ga. She died Dec. 21, 1987.
He was a retailer and former owner of Bennett’s Home Center. He was a member of Adventurers and Home Builders, Chamber of Commerce, Hospital Building Trustees, Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and SCORE. He was an original member of Civil Air Patro, member and Sunday School teacher of the First United Methodist Church, past president of the Rotary, and was a past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge. Mr. Bennett was a lieutenant colonel in the US Army, receiving two bronze stars and the Croix De Guerre.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Walworth of Burlington; one sister, Beulah Sundwall of Lynnwood, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Marion Bennett of Burlington; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several cousins.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, G. Douglas Bennett.
Friends may call as they desire at Prugh Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 am Saturday at the First United Methodist Church.
The funeral for Mr. Bennett will be at 10 am Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barrie Tritle officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
