Jane Lea Ruschill, 71, of Burlington, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born June 2, 1937, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Forrest L. and Mabel Jackson Fuhrer. On September 22, 1956, she married Virgil Ruschill in Latty. Mrs. Ruschill worked at Block and Kohl Department Store; as a field executive for Shining Trail Council of Girl Scouts; and at Sperry Union Store, where she retired after 26 years. She was a 1955 graduate of Sperry High School. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and Ladies in Stitches. She was a member of the church choir and Zion Baby Quilters. She enjoyed gardening, reading and music. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Alan Ruschill of Burlington, and Evan Ruschill of Hazelwood, MO; two daughters, Colleen Squires of Oskaloosa, and Jill Dickey of New London; five grandchildren; one brother, Ted Fuhrer of Pisgah Forest, N.C.; and one sister, Sue Shumaker of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Rushchill will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Randall Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the fine arts department at Mediapolis Schools and the Mediapolis Library.
