Obituary
Two Burlington me were electrocuted Thursday afternoon on a Henderson County farm about five miles northwest of here when the grain auger they were ushing came in contact with a high power line.
Authorities said that Richard Stevenson, 18, a farmhand, and Lloyd Bennett, 50, owner of the farm were killed instantly. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Henderson County Coroner Marvin Hindman of Biggsville.
The bodies of the two men were spotted by a passing motorist, authorities said.
The accident happened sometime between 3 and 3:30 pm, authorities said. The two men were apparently working on the farm by themselves at the time of the accident.
The bodies were taken to Giles-Elliott Funeral home in Burlington.
Funeral services for Lloyd Walker Bennett, 50, Glenmark Drive, Burlington will be at 2 pm Saturday in the Giles-Elliott Funeral Home in Burlington. Elder Melvin Norton will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
He was born September 1, 1929, in Hamilton, Ill. He was a partner in the Bennett-Roth Trucking company in Burlington and also farmed.
On Sept. 4, 1954, he married Geraldine Frances Roth, who survives.
He was a member of the Oak Street Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles Frederick, Burlington, and Brent Walker Bennett, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Theresa) Trail and Mrs. Gregory(Barbara) Elliott, both of Burlington; three brothers, Glenn, Burlington Don, Brandon, Fla., and Leland Bennett, Terre Haute, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Huffman, Burlington, and Mrs. Helen Stkins, High Acres, Fla.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. His parents were Charles B. and Ada Jones Bennett.
Mr. Stevenson will be buried in Denmark Cemetery.
