Elza J. “Benny” Bennett, 52, of 2000 Agency St., died at Burlington Memorial hospital Saturday, Sept. 27.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Bennett, he was born July 18, 1923, at Carthage, Ill. He married Clara Alfred on Dec. 22, 1945, in Burlington.
Mr. Bennett was a retired employee of Bennett & Roth and was a member of First United Church of Christ and the Eagles lodge.
Surviving: The wife; two daughters, Connie S. Brunsell, Wichita, Kan., and Jo Ann M. Bennett, Davenport; one grandson; four brothers, Leland, Lomax, Ill., Donald, Carman, Ill., Lloyd, and Edward, both of Burlington; and two sisters, Hazel Huffman, Burlington, and Helen Atkins, Lehigh Acres, Fla.
Funeral: 2 pm Tuesday, Sheagren funeral home, Rev. Alvin Volle; Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial to the Emphysema Foundation has been established.
