Obituary
Evelyn Rowley, 95, of Burlington, died 9:41 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at the Great River Medical Center Klein Unit. Born February 26, 1917 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Victor and Ida Maria (Soreng) Linquist. She married Robert Rowley on August 16, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA; he died May 15, 2003. Mrs. Rowley was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She loved to quilt and do counted cross stitch, observing nature, feeding and watching the birds. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She never complained and knew her life was in God's hands and she trusted in Him. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Christina Goodwin of Danville; five sons, Robert Rowley, Thomas Rowley and Kevin Rowley all of Burlington, Craig Rowley of Dumfries, VA and Jon Rowley of Salem; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, two sisters and six brothers.The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Rowley will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 12th at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Orthel will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church or the Great River Hospice House. According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded.
