Rose, Larry Dwayne Sr. - Double Stacked
Larry Dwayne Rose Sr., 60, of Burlington died at 10:13 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born Feb. 15, 1947, in Burlington, he was the son of Donald Dwayne and Leota Fay Seitz Rose. On Feb. 5, 1966, he married Marilyn K. Black in Burlington. Mr. Rose worked at J.I.Case Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He worked at Niehaus Honda Shop part-time. He was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Eagles Club, UAW Local 807 and Gold Wing Riders. He played Babe Ruth baseball and football in high school, as well as men's league softball. He coached Little League baseball and was a Boy Scout den leader. He enjoyed camping, building race cars and sprint cars, hunting, fishing, tinkering in the garage and woodworking. Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry Dwayne Rose Jr. of Burlington; two daughters, Jean Christine Johnson and Tammy Eileen Lipper, both of Burlington; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Dennis L. Rose and Gail L. Rose, both of Burlington; and one sister, Susan D. Sumpter of Oquawka, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7:30 until 9 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Rose will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Trevor Davis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established.
