Chrystel Wilhelmina Benne, 89, of 628 S. Leebrick, Burlington, died at 420 am Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born Dec. 15, 1907, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of Swan and Hannah Carlson Franklin. On April 2, 1930, she married Lester A. Benne in West Burlington. He died in April 1985.
Mrs. Benne was a homemaker and member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Burlington and its Ladies Aid.
Survivors include one son, Richard H. Benne of Burlington; four grandchildren; Elaine Baker of Urbandale, Iowa, Sarah Lorensen of Clive, Iowa, David Baker of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Eric Benne of Burlington, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, and one daughter, Carol.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm today at Prugh’s Chapel.
The funeral for Mrs. Benne will be at 10:30 am Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Donald Hoornstra officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Messiah Lutheran Church.
