Dolores Marie Rohrer-Givans, 76, of Burlington died Monday, March 3, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born May 27, 1931 in Washington, she was the daughter of Everett and Dora Phillips Wallace. On December 14, 1948, she married Robert J. Rohrer Sr. in Washington. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1990. On October 16, 1999 she married Max W. Givans in Burlington. Mrs. Rohrer was a member of Long Creek United Methodist Church at Danville, a lifetime member of Navy Fleet Reserve Auxiliary, an honorary life member of KAABA Temple, and a past member of Ladies of the Moose, Order of the Eastern Star Burlington Chapter 545, and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting afghans, playing bingo, cards and pinochle. Most important to her was her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Max Givans of Burlington; two daughters, Beverly (David) Wilson of West Burlington and Barbara (Kenneth) Johnson of Burlington; one son, Robert J. (Carol) Rohrer, Jr. of Burlington; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Wallace of Wabash, Indiana. Her first husband, parents, grandson Steven, brother Robert Wallace, sister Donna Strange, son-in-law Olin Ray Clark, and two step grandsons Nathan Specketer and Joseph Specketer preceded her in death. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6th in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Rohrer-Givans will be Friday, March 7th at 10:30 a.m. in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Richard Latta will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for American Heart Association and Kidney Foundation.
