Services for Lester A. Benne, 78, of 2104 West Avenue, who died Saturday, April 13, will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church at 10:30 am Tuesday, the Rev. Donald D. Hoornstra officiating. Burial will be in Aspe Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Messiah Lutheran Church and the Easter Seal Society.
Mr. Benne was born Oct. 5, 1906, to Henry and Clara Schuff Benne, in Burlington where he married Chrystal Franklin on April 12, 1930.
He had been an employee of Burlington Truck Lines. He was a member of Messiah Church and RSVP, and was a Burlington Medical Center volunteer. He was a former director of Burlington Baseball Association.
Surviving: His wife; a son, Richard, Burlington; a sister, Helen Benne, Ft. Dodge; and four grandchildren.
