Dick Roberts, 74, of Yarmouth, died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born August 4, 1935, in Macomb, Ill., he was the son of Merle and Vera Downey Roberts. On June 30, 1956, he married Janet Dean in Carthage, Ill. Mr. Roberts worked at Bilt-Rite Cabinets five years, Keystone three years, and owned and operated Roberts Building & Remodeling for 10 years. He then worked at Mason Hanger, retiring in 1997. He moved from Illinois to rural Mediapolis in 1965. He served in the Army with the 237 Engineers from 1958 to 1960. He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Joanna Roberts of Mount Pleasant, and Carrie Clubb and Sheril Boyle, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Roberts of Macomb, and Gerry Roberts of Carthage, Ill.; one sister, Luan Griffin of Warsaw, Ill.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Roberts will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-ThielenFuneral Home, with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Food and fellowship will follow at Hass-Thielen Community Room. A memorial has been established.
