Doris J. Riffel, 79, of Burlington, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at Great River Klein Center in Burlington. Born Aug. 16, 1927, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond Henry and Irene Helen Linquist Heckenberg. On Sept. 28, 1951, she married William B. Riffel in West Burlington. Mrs. Riffel was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for Fox Appliance and Ewinger Supply Co. She was a 1945 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed needlework. Survivors include her husband, one brother; Loren Heckenberg of Phoenix, two sisters; Marjorie Voelker and Cheryl Levinson, both of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home , where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Riffel will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Kendall Adams officiating. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Her body has been cremated. A memorial has been established for Great River Klein Center and Great River Hospice.
