Linda Riffel, 59, of Burlington, died at 12:18 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born June 17, 1951, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Leota Breuer Riffel. Ms. Riffel worked in assembly for Hope Haven, before moving to the office and helping with administration work. She enjoyed the trips she took with her sister. She loved playing games on the computer, and knitting Christmas stockings. She was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, where she was active with the Dominick Club. Survivors include her sister, Sherry Riffel of Schaumberg, Ill.; two nieces, Julie Oriano of Riverside, and Jemma Richardson Bever of Houston, Texas; and three great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel. The Prayer of Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Riffel will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, with the Revs. Michael T. Phillips, David Steinle, and Bruce DeRammelaere officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
