Ralph George Rieke, 76, of Burlington died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2006, at Great River Medical Center. Born May 22, 1929 in Burlington, he was the oldest child of Ralph and Mildred Mueller Rieke. Mr. Rieke attended Saunderson School, Oak Street Jr. High School and was a 1948 graduate of Burlington High School. After high school, Mr. Rieke joined the Air Force and was a veteran of Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith. After returning from service, Mr. Rieke worked at Burlington Instrument, drove a truck for Gustafson Dairy, and Midwest Biscuit. He retired in 1995 after 28 years of service as Materials Manager at St. Francis Continuation Care. Mr. Rieke enjoyed dancing, bowling, shooting pool and Mexican food. Survivors include two sisters, Doris J. Rieke of Burlington and Joyce Ensminger of Owatonna, Minnesota; one brother, Robert L. Rieke of Davenport; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. His parents and brother, Donald Rieke, preceded him in death. A memorial has been established for Cornerstone E Free Church Building Fund or the Donor's choice.
