James Edward Riddle, 63, of Burlington, died at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born April 5, 1947, in Burlington, he was the son of James Edward and Norma Jean Russell Riddle. On January 16, 1981, he married Shari Dianne Edwards in Burlington. Mr. Riddle worked 32 years in machine setup at Champion Spark Plug, retiring in 2001. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1965. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and cooking. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Norma Boales of Manilla, Ind.; one brother, Jessie Riddle of Port Clinton, Ohio; four sisters, Ruth Whiteside and Thelma Bledsoe, both of Port Clinton, Juanita Riddle of Fremont, Ohio, and Pansy Weaver of Manilla. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Riddle will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bettyanna Bremer officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
