Marion Benedict, Sr., 73, 1826 Page, was dead on arrival at Blessing hospital, Quincy, Ill., Thursday, Dec. 31 at 2:08 pm. He died of an apparent heart attack while on a business trip to Quincy.
He was born Aug. 1, 1897, in Des Moines County, son of Dorance M. and Lettie Ward Benedict. He married Grace McClintic in Burlington on Mar. 1, 1923. He was employed in track maintenance by the Rock Island railroad. He retired in 1958 after 29 years of service.
Surviving; His wife; two sons, Marion Benedict, Jr., James Benedict, both of Burlington; three grandchildren.
Funeral Monday, Jan. 4, 2 pm, Prugh’s chapel; Rev. Ralph Jordan, Aspen Grove Cemetery.
