Jewel Marie Bendix, 78, of 145 Indian Terrace, Burlington, died at 10:30 pm Saturday, July 29, 1995, at her home.
Born April 1, 1917, in Romney, Ind., she was the daughter of Arnie E. and Maude Florence Howell Coffman. In August 1949, she married Richard A. Bendix in Monmouth, Ill., he died on Sept. 9, 1975.
Mrs. Bendix had been a cashier at the S&H Greenstamp store in Burlington. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Meadows of Omaha, Neb., and Larry Meadows of Moline, Ill; two daughters, Sharon Rogers of Cordova, Ill., and Patricia Hingst of Des Moine; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one half-sister, Ruth Ann Claybaugh of Coal Valley, Ill.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one grandson.
A memorial service will be at 10 am Wednesday at Prugh’s Chapel, with the Rev. Shirley Bliven officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
