Bonnie Louise Wittkamp, 91, formerly of Burlington, died at "Prairie Ridge Care & Rehab, Mediapolis, Iowa on Tuesday, January 22, 2013
Born on October 11, 1921 in West Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Edward and Catherine Johnson Siefken. She married Irvin Wittkamp on October 6, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He died on April 27, 1994.
Bonnie was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, short car trips, listening to big band music, Christian music and Delilah, the radio personality. She was known for making delicious Christmas cookies and her wonderful penmanship. She was schooled in the Palmer Method of Penmanship, a uniform system of cursive writing that she excelled in and delighted those who received her cards and letters. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda (John) Rice of Burlington, Iowa; one son, Robert James (Rebecca) Wittkamp of Mesa, Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Melissa (Cameron) Capps, Greg Rice, Brandon (Sally Dixon) Rice, Patty Wittkamp, Steve (Brooke) Wittkamp; 9 great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Jacob, Courtney, Natalie, Kirkland, Ben, Brynn, Cayden, Johnny; 1 great-great-grandchild, Serenity; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin and her parents.
Funeral services for Bonnie Louise Wittkamp will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Prugh’s Chapel. Pastor Steve Parker will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorials have been established for Oak Street Baptist Church.
